Today we’re talking about Tony Hawk 4, which I’ll be playing on the Xbox. I always prefer the Xbox versions of these games because the graphics are a lot better. In this case, it’s actually 720p wide-screen with surround sound. This game was a huge step in the series. The timer is gone, and it’s […]
I cover all kinds of skateboarding topics, but over the winter, I’ve been reviewing some snowboarding games. Some people recommended Cool Boarders 2, so I thought I’d give it a try. I know some of the later games around the PS2 era weren’t very well received, but a lot of people seemed to like this […]
Before we get started, let’s just define pressure flips. It’s a lot more than just the basic inward heelflip one. So a pressure flip is any trick that flips because of the way you pop or scoop it. So you’ve got the inward heel version and the hardflip version, but also straight ones and 360 […]
Nollies are one of the most fundamental tricks in skateboarding, but where did it come from? And how did it make its way into street? Let’s take a look. Back when I was a kid, if you did research on who first landed the nollie, you would find a weird factoid that it was a […]
You know, a lot of people get fakie trick spin names wrong, or some people have the nollie ones messed up. You know what, let me show you what I’m talking about really quick. Here are some clips from the trickipedia on the Berrics. A nollie backside heelflip from a regular skater and a frontside […]
So what is a casper flip? For the sake of the video, it’s a half flip late vertical shove it, regardless of how exactly you do it. Some people will call the back footed versions casper flips and the front footed versions hospital flips. If you want to be really technical, you can use those […]
Skate or Die was released in 1988 for a bunch of different personal computers, MS-DOS, and… the NES. Now, I was BORN in 88, so obviously, I didn’t play it when it was new. My family was a little behind the times though, so I did actually grow up with an NES until about 1996. […]
So what exactly is ‘cheating’ in skateboarding? It’s all art, right? You can do whatever you want, even weird footplant stuff where you end up with both feet on the ground. You might not get a ton of respect, but it’s not ‘cheating’. The gray area where it starts to get a little sketchy is […]
When Tony Hawk 3 came out on PS2, I got it the day it came out, just like millions of other people. But I’m actually going to be playing the Xbox version for this review. For this whole generation of games, the Xbox version is better. The graphics are better, there are more effects, and […]
So to understand the gazelle underflip, we have to take a look at the original gazelle. It’s a trick Rodney Mullen invented back in the early 80s, and it’s what we would call a nollie backside 540 shove it with a 360 body varial. So a nollie bigspin with a full extra 180. But nobody […]
