- 10Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2PlayStation · Dreamcast · PC · XboxA masterpiece and still my favorite in the series. Solid, fun and endlessly replayable.
- 9.5Skate 2PS3 · Xbox 360One of the best skateboarding games ever made, with the best city in the series to skate after the story's done.
- 9Skate 3Xbox 360 · PS3The best career mode and controls in the series, though Skate 2's city is still the one to beat.
- 9Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2PS4 · Xbox One · PCA remake that's as good as the originals in almost every way. Short, but an absolute buy.
- 9Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3Xbox · PS2 · PlayStationA classic and a sweet spot in the series, and the PS1 version is a hidden gem.
- 8.5Thrasher: Skate and DestroyPlayStationThe most realistic skateboarding game of its era and excellent in almost every way, apart from brutal load times.
- 8.5Tony Hawk's UndergroundXbox · PS2 · GameCubeOne of the high points of the series, with the best story and progression of the bunch.
- 8Aggressive InlinePS2 · Xbox · GameCubeA genuinely great game that does a lot better than Tony Hawk 4. The only real downside is the inline skates.
- 8OlliOlli WorldXbox Series X · PS5 · Switch · PCEasier to get into than the last two, with plenty of challenge left. Some side goals never make it clear what they want.
- 8Skater XLPC · Xbox One · PS4Great flip physics and a lot of fun, just light on levels and things to do.
- 8Street Uni XPCA faithful PS1-style action sports game that's worth $20, even if the challenges get repetitive.
- 8Tony Hawk's Underground 2Xbox · PS2 · PCDumb, over the top and a lot more fun than I remembered. It holds up really well.
- 7.5SkateXbox 360 · PS3Still deeper than almost anything else out there. Play it first, before 2 and 3 spoil you.
- 7.5SkateXbox 360 · PS3Still good in 2021 if you play the series in order, but the travel time between challenges wears thin.
- 7Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX: Maximum RemixPlayStationA surprisingly good BMX game with Thrasher DNA and a ton to do.
- 7Tony Hawk's American WastelandPS2 · Xbox · Xbox 360A good game with a cool story by Tony Hawk standards, but bloated with features.
- 7Tony Hawk's Pro SkaterPlayStation · N64 · DreamcastThe purest game in the series. It doesn't hold up perfectly, but it's worth playing for perspective.
- 6Cool Boarders 2PlayStationChunky, charming and still fun to pick up for a few runs, though everything it does has been done better since.
- 6MotordoomPCA fun mashup of Pro Skater and Doom, but the guns and demons get in the way of the action sports side.
- 6RollingPS2A decent THPS-meets-Skate inline game that's short on personality. It doesn't touch Aggressive Inline.
- 6Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4Xbox · PS2Nothing's broken, but its growing pains between 3 and Underground make it hold up worse than I remembered.
- 5Evolution SkateboardingPS2 · GameCubeNot total garbage, and more realistic than most, but lazy. It's for collectors only.
- 5Skate or DieNESSurprisingly deep for 1988 and a nice piece of history, but hard to learn and long since outdone.
- 5Street Sk8erPlayStationTiny and dated, but fun for an afternoon, and an important part of how Tony Hawk got made.
- 32XtremePlayStationA nostalgic first skate game for a lot of us that doesn't hold up. Put it on the shelf, but don't play it.
- 3Go! Go! HypergrindGameCubeMedium bad, with two unbearable, luck-based events that take up most of your play time.
- 3Shaun Palmer's Pro SnowboarderGame Boy ColorFrustrating, repetitive and punished by a monster password system. Nice on the shelf, though.
- 3Skate Attack (Skate City Heroes)PS2The skating works, but drones, lasers and timed chores bury it. Overambitious and underbaked.
- 3Tony Hawk's Project 8PS3 · Xbox 360 · Xbox · PS2The PS3 version made me motion sick, and the last-gen version is only for skaters who've beaten everything else.
- 2720°Game Boy Color1986 gameplay with one button for tricks, sold for $35 in 1999. Unforgivably bad.
- 2Disney's Extremely Goofy SkateboardingPCConfusing goals and almost no skateboarding. There's no reason to play it over Pro Skater.
- 2The Simpsons SkateboardingPS2One of the most unlikeable games I've ever played, with levels that have zero flow and nothing to enjoy.
- 2Tony Hawk: ShredPS3 · Xbox 360 · WiiBetter than Ride, which isn't saying much. The board controller makes every challenge a coin flip.
- 2Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5PS4 · Xbox OneA lifeless, depressing end to the series and the worst Tony Hawk game you can still buy.
- 2Yanya Caballista: City SkaterPS2A unique concept wrecked by impossible timing. I'd rather have had a cheap Tony Hawk clone.
- 1Skateboard Madness: Xtreme EditionPS2A cheap cash grab you can beat in minutes, and the worst game I've ever played.
No reviews for that system yet.
